Lysil seemed to be consoling her, as she immediately approached Teralatina and began saying something.
「So I wasn’t just hallucinating things back then.」
「I can’t hear or touch them, though.」
「Still, the spirits seem to love you a bit too much. Never seen Teralatina look that happy, you know?」
「Is Teralatina your contract spirit?」
「No, we aren’t contracted. That’s impossible. A named high spirit is practically a god. Not at Mistress Fiiyanamia’s level, though.」
In other words, Teralatina is probably like Lysil, who stays close to us because she likes us.
「Is there a spirit named Tua that you’re contracted with?」
「That’s right, it should be…」
Saying so, Bajo started looking around when suddenly a chocolate-colored puppy jumped out from somewhere. Just as I thought it was rushing towards me, it then jumped into the spirit’s resting place.
「Well, it went inside.」
「It did. No need to worry. It’ll come out eventually.」
「Such a curious accessory you have.」
「I picked it up.」
「So that’s why you’re loved by spirits, huh. But still, being able to see spirits is…」
He’s overthinking on his own, so I’ll leave it at that. Human spirit users are probably able to see spirits, so no need to pay heed.
「Are all demihumans able to see spirits?」
「Beastkin can only sense them. So, back to our discussion. What should I make with this material?」
「A heavily ornate rapier.」
「You mean a dancing sword, right―Okay, got it.」
It seems like he has some qualms, but he still accepted. I’d rather that we don’t get probed for information, so as long as he’s convinced himself, that’s good enough.
「For the magic core, I want three earrings of the same design.」
「That’ll make it really small.」
「That’s fine. Three single earrings of a simple design.」
「You making it a sorceric tool?」
「That sounds interesting, but not this time.」
Earrings can be made a sorceric tool; good to know that. I do hope it’s not something only achievable with Dwarf technology, though.
「Now then, since Teralatina is getting impatient, we’ll be leaving now.」
「That’s the best course of action. I’d rather not upset her.
I’ll be done a long while later, though.」
「If it’s only the earrings?」
「I can finish them by tomorrow.」
「Then I’ll pick them up tomorrow. I’m fine with getting the rapier in my next academic break. Also, I’ll be leaving this, too.」
I left behind Tur’s dragon scale and left the shop. If we stay any longer, Teralatina’s intense glaring might just start to burn through Bajo, you see.
「Please guide us to a place without people.」
After saying so with a low whisper, I switched with Ciel. She’s much faster at travelling, after all.
With a look of understanding, Teralatina started to lead the way.
◇
We were brought to a cave near a waterfall in the middle of a forest. There are C- and B-rank monsters roaming around, so people are unlikely to come here.
And since we’re in a forest and near a waterfall, there are lots of spirits.
Knowing that this is our destination, I switched with Ciel. And then started the communication through gestures. In general, we’ll be asking questions that can be answered with ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
This brings me back to how Lysil and I started interacting in the past. Now, even though we can’t communicate with speech, we can understand what the other wants to some extent. It’s a testament to our long relationship.
As expected, since it’s my first time meeting Teralatina, I can’t figure out what she’s saying.
For now, let me try initiating a question.
「Nice to meet you; my name is Ainsel. May I call you Teralatina?」
Start with the light jab. I asked a question that she’d surely nod to, but for some reason, Teralatina’s beautiful face scrunched up before she nodded with reluctance. Lysil watched with a warm smile.
Okay, I don’t get it.
「Your name is Teralatina, isn’t it?」
She immediately nodded. She doesn’t look particularly displeased.
In other words, the answer is likely―
「Would you also like to be called by a nickname like Lysil?」
Again, immediate nod. For some reason, I feel expectation from her gaze.
I guess she wants me to think of the nickname. Tera isn’t that cute, so…
「In that case, allow me to call you Ralana.」
I tried shortening her name like with Lysil, and she nodded in satisfaction.
After that, with Lysil’s assistance, I had a long chat with Teralatina, now Ralana. I say chat, but it’s more like I was asked many questions.
Honestly, we barely had several questions for her on our end.
As a result, I think we’ve made things like my relationship with Ciel, my status, and my identity pretty clear to Ralana.
Also, we learned that Ralana is an acquaintance of Lysil and quite strong at that. Since she likes Bajo, she’s around him most of the time, and the dwarf settlement feels cozy to her, so she doesn’t plan on leaving here.
「We’ll come back again to play.」
I switched with Ciel midway, and as she danced with the spirits to her heart’s content, we decided to go home.
And that ends this chapter and the AinCiel series as of now!
Frankly, I feel emotional about this ending. I genuinely don’t know what I can write about this chapter. But first of all, thank you for following this series with me for so long. As a fellow reader and fan of this series, I can’t help but feel somewhat empty inside right now. There are honestly still several plot threads left to connect, but still, I’m glad the series at least ended before things could pick up. I’m glad we were able to see our girls reunite and chat with the pre-Ausente supporting characters. I’m glad that the last thing I read our girls is of them doing what they love best with an audience that appreciates them.
I’ll be moving on to a new project from here on out, which I’ll promote a bit, if you don’t mind.
The new series I’m working on is ‘Several Years a Genderbent Beauty, Took My Chance but Now at My Childhood Friend’s Mercy’ or ‘Genderbent Beauty at Her Childhood Friend’s Mercy’ in short. Unlike AinCiel, it’s a modern day Japan yuri romcom about two childhood friends. As you’d expect, it’s completely different from AinCiel, but if you do enjoy romcom, childhood friend romance, or yuri, I recommend it. It’s pretty similar to ‘Villainess Becomes Commoner’ in terms of vibes.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice week~! I hope we’ll meet again in another work!
