At first glance, it’s difficult to believe that Bajo’s shop is a smithy. It does have a signboard, but it only says, 「Tua Bajo’s Shop」 and doesn’t provide any other information.
Inside, only a simple counter is visible; there aren’t any products on display. There is an audible sound of iron being hammered coming from inside the building, the only proof that it’s a smithy.
Bajo put a chair on the side of the counter facing the entrance and sat down on the chair behind the counter. It’s a pretty tall chair, and seeing him climb to the seat is somewhat adorable.
As Ciel sat down in the provided chair, Bajo began speaking with a serious expression.
「So, what brought you here?」
「First off, have this.」
「A letter of introduction, *eh*. True, something like this is normally necessary… Magic core processing, *huh*…」
「This magic core, can you process it?」
「Which one… This is…?」
Bajo closes one eye and stares at the magic core Ciel handed him with great focus. And then, he tilted his head in confusion. He must have thought it was some great magic core, but it was just a normal goblin magic core, so the whiplash in expectation must have confused him.
After a while, Bajo seemingly regained his composure and looked back at Ciel.
「On whether it’s possible or not, it’s possible.」
「Dwarfs can also process magic cores?」
「Some are better than others, but everyone is capable of it to some extent.」
「Then, please do it.」
「What about the payment?」
「How much?」
Bajo shook his head in refusal.
「I don’t need money. Could you let me make a weapon for you with the materials you have in hand?」
「What do you need?」
「How about the highest ranking-material you have?」
There was a glint in Bajo’s eyes, I think.
It seems like he’s got a strong craftsman spirit. He probably wants to make something with materials he’s never seen before. Certainly, we should be able to provide Bajo with materials he wouldn’t normally be able to procure.
Ciel asked, 『The highest-ranking we have are Tur’s scales; can we show it to him?』 and I responded, 『It should be fine.』
「This is the best.」
Saying so, Ciel pulled out a pure white scale, and Bajo’s eyes went wide open. We didn’t tear this off from Tur; we just took the ones that fell from his body, but it seems like it’s an amazing material.
「Never seen anything like it… I’ve seen dragon scales before, but I’ve never seen anything of this quality up until now.」
「Is that good?」
「Can I touch it?」
「Feel free.」
Bajo timidly picked up Tur’s scale, and after staring at it for a while, he shook his head.
「Sorry, but this won’t fly. It’s beyond my skills.」
「Then, this?」
「This one too…!?」
Ciel then took out a material we got from the mobs in the den’s lower strata. A crazy-looking scythe arm from a praying mantis. I call it a mob, but it’s around S-rank in power, so it should be alright. The monster we acquired it from tore down my A-rank barrier with only a few slashes, after all.
「This, I should be able to use. What do you want?」
「You’re giving it away?」
「If we consider this an offering to the Mistress’ daughter, crafting it would be an honor.」
「Even though you’re taking materials?」
「Well, that’s a different story.」
Ciel curiously stared at Bajo as he heartily laughed. She doesn’t seem offended by this at all. If I had to say, he has a personality that Ciel finds likable. As this thought crossed my mind, the brown-haired spirit from before suddenly appeared from above.
She descended right in between Ciel and Bajo and is staring straight at Ciel.
On the other hand, noticing her existence, Ciel’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and she loudly reported, 『There’s a spirit! A spirit like Lysil!』 to me. It appears that Ciel also finds her similar to Lysil. In that case, she’s probably at least a high-ranking spirit.
『She must be a high-rank spirit.』
『That’s rare! So rare!』
While Ciel and I were talking, the said spirit and Lysil were also conversing with each other. The two of them together have a cozy air around them. With Ciel’s reaction being adorable as well, the area feels very cozy right now; Bajo, meanwhile, is left out of the loop.
Staring at the brown-haired spirit, he then mutters,「To see Teralatina like this…」 so this spirit appears to have a name as well.
『May we switch places for a moment?』
『It’s fine even if it’s not just for a moment, you know? We’re requesting him to process magic cores, but I don’t really know how to explain it, after all.』
『Understood. Then I’ll handle things until we reach a good settlement.』
The moment Ciel and I switched, Teralatina perked up like a jolt ran through her spine, and she turned my way. And then, she started talking to me, but I couldn’t understand her.
「I’m sorry. I can’t hear your voices. Let’s have a nice chat afterwards.」
While maintaining Ciel’s manner of speech, I apologized to Teralatina, and she shook her head in reply, as if to tell me not to worry about it, before trying to hug me.
Upon seeing her hands pass through me, she had a disgruntled expression.
And that ends this update! While our girls were consulting with the dwarf craftsman, suddenly! A spirit!
It’s not anything new, and I might have already mentioned this before, but I really like how the characters in the story don’t really dwell into the weird and amazing things our girls do for longer than necessary. Sure, they might actually be amazed or so in their mind, but most of them try to act professional and stay on topic. Using current day vernacular, there is only minimal glazing. That aside, we also have a new high-rank spirit! And just like every spirit, she was immediately displeased by the fact that she can’t properly interact with our girls, lol. I always feel kinda bad for Ciel whenever the spirits react significantly stronger to Ain when they switch.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice week~!
