There were no further incidents, and they all slept through the night without issue.

“Good morning Mitsuki, did you finish packing everything? Is there anything I can help with?”

Kou was doing a final check to make sure she had not forgotten anything in the room, when someone spoke to her from behind. And standing there was…

“Ah, good morning, Haru. My dad already took all my skiing gear and other things I won’t need anymore to the car’s trunk, so I’m good.”

Saying that, she let Haru into the room, which had been her bedroom for the last few days.
Everything the four had brought there, like their clothes and other personal accessories, was already packed in duffel bags, as they would need them over in Hinagiku’s home. Other than that, the room was completely empty now.

“We’ve only been here for a few days, but somehow this room feels so empty without all of our things, weird isn’t it?”
“Ahahah, I get what you mean, even though it only went back to how it was before.”
“Yeah, and we were all so excited about this empty room when we got here too.”

It was an odd feeling, going from the excitement of their first day to this lonesome feeling when leaving.

*A lot happened here, but it was really fun.*

It felt weird to get this attached to a room they had only stayed in for a few days, but that aside, Kou turned around and asked something else.

“Oh yeah, why did you come here to the annex, Haru?”
“Ah, I almost forgot! Breakfast is almost ready, so you should come eat with us. I already ran into Hijiri and the others coming here, so they know too.”
“Ah, got it. Thank you!”

Having given the message, Haru went back to the living room, and Kou followed shortly after.

…And then they had an uneventful final meal there too.

“It was a pleasure having you here, please take care.”
“Thank you, we really enjoyed our time here, Mr. Kazami.”
“””Thank you!”””

After Kou, the rest of the guests leaving that day, Hijiri, Subaru, Kasumi, Miyuki and the rest of the Kudo family, all bowed and thanked Makoto.

“You really don’t need to thank me. I hear you’re often playing with my son and daughter, so I’m really glad I got to meet you as well. If you have the chance, please visit us again.”

He nodded, happy to be appreciated like that, and then smiled at the group, waving with her wife Xinglu at the leaving group.

“Let’s meet again in-game…actually no, for New Years!”
“We’ll definitely drop by the shrine then, Demon Lord!”

The next ones to wave at them were the couple’s children, Akito and Akari.

“We’ll also drop by for that day then, so we shall see each other again soon.”
“Kikyo, please take care of our daughter and her friends, and thank you for giving them this opportunity.”

A bit further back were Amari and Sora, who would stay in the vacation house for a few more days. Akane and the other guests, as well as Suzaku and Haru had also come out to see them off.
Amari and Sora still had a few parent things to discuss with Kikyo…when Kou and Hijiri felt something tugging on their coats, so they looked down.

“Kou, Hijiri…”

Firmly grasping their coats, and with her eyes welling with tears and about to cry about the two leaving…was the youngest there, Julia.
Seeing her, Kou quickly squatted down to her height, patting her head with a smile.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be neighbors soon, right?”
“Mhm mhm, just wait a little. Soon we’ll get to play together again!”
“Ah…okay, pinky promise!”

Hearing that made Kou and Hijiri feel warm inside, so they gave Julia a firm nod, and then they stood up to bow to the other couple standing behind them.

“Iris and Reiji, thank you for everything.”
“Don’t mention it. Thank you instead for becoming July’s friend.”
“Feel free to drop by us any time you want, I’ll train you more, and I’m sure July will be happy to see you, and my grandfather too. You’re his former student after all.”
“Ahahah…I get the feeling that he won’t let it show at all though.”
“Hahah, that’s true. He’s a special old man.”

Iris just grimaced a little hearing Reiji and Kou say that.
Everyone else also laughed a bit…and then Ryunosuke came back from starting the car.

“Alright Kou, and everyone else, are you ready to go?”
“Ah, yes. Thank you again for driving us there, Ryunosuke.”
“”Thank you!””

After thanking him, they all went into the Kudo household’s car, an SUV with three rows of seats.
And with a large group seeing them off, the car left the vacation house they all had spent a few days in.

“This is my first time working part time anywhere.”
“We’ll get to wear actual shrine maiden clothes, it sounds so fun!”

Hijiri and Kasumi chatted about it without much care…but Kou was starting to get a bad feeling about it.

…Their next destination was Tone Shrine, the biggest shrine in that area, and also Hinagiku’s home.
That was going to be the first workplace for Kou and the rest…and the place where they would become shrine maidens during the busy New Years period.
