When Kou and the rest made their way to the living room, they found there were more guests present there, filling all the seats.
“Ah, you two finally came back.”
“Heh, it seems you got a really bad beating, Suzaku.”
“Yes I did, thank you very much… Just who is that monster?”
They were greeted by Reinhard and Reo, who looked rather entertained by the whole affair, and Suzaku gave an ironic response, having finally regained some life.
There were two tables set up for the children and those involved with Lua Cheia, where the rest of the members were waiting for them.
One of those tables was occupied by Miyuki’s family, as well as Hinagiku and Kikyo.
They all commended Kou and Suzaku’s hard work, noticing how exhausted they were, as they headed to the second table, mostly meant for the high schoolers.
“It sounds like Reiji was really impressive there.”
“Yeah…I never thought someone that strong existed to begin with.”
Hijiri sat down next to Kou, looking a bit worried, but Kou just smiled at her to reassure her, while glancing at Reiji who was also arriving a bit later to the living room.
He went to sit down with his wife and daughter, Iris and Julia…and then greeted an elegant and well mannered blonde woman who was also sitting next to them, engaged in some friendly conversation.
“Who’s that woman?”
“That’s my mother, and a really good friend of Julia’s mother.”
“Ohh…your mom is really pretty, Reinhard.”
That would mean that she was a nobleman’s wife, which checked out. All her mannerisms as she spoke with Iris were those of a person with a high class upbringing, and were almost mesmerizing.
“Talking about really good friends, Suzaku and Haru are also really close, right?”
They were not just friendly with each other, but shared a deeper connection, like they fully trusted each other. Kou was starting to get curious about their relationship, and suddenly brought it up.
“Oh right, I guess I never told any of you. Me and Suzaku are childhood friends.”
“Childhood friends?”
“Yeah, my dad is the boss of one of her parents.”
Saying that, Suzaku pointed to where Amari, Sora, and other NTEC members were sitting.
There, Kou saw a singer she was familiar with…who was also Haru’s mother, Kagurazaka Haruka (this is her real name, Haru explained that she has a different stage name), as well as one of NTEC’s graphic designers, who Kou also knew, Kagurazaka Sakurako.
And alongside them were Suzaku’s parents, NTEC’s art director, Hikami Kyouya, and their planner Hikami Kyouka, all chatting with each other. Seeing them it made sense that their children also got along.
“Also, I was friends with his sister who’s two years older than him. He was always clinging onto her and following her everywhere, so I ended up becoming friends with him too.”
“What? When did that even happen!”
“Hm? You were like all the way until middle school I think?”
“No way, I didn’t even talk to her in elementary school!”
“Huh, you’re lying! In middle school you were just as clingy, you just showed it in a different way, didn’t you?”
“AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!”
While Haru continued exposing his dark past, he resorted to shouting and trying to drown out her voice so Kou and the rest would not hear.
At least that showed that his exhaustion from earlier was gone, and he was back to his usual self.
Meanwhile Kazami Makoto greeted everyone, raised a drink for everyone, and dinner began.
The living room was full of people now. A self-serve buffet was set up in a corner of the room, all of the tables had bowls with bite-sized pieces of bread, various vegetables, and in the middle they had a small burner with a pot of melting cheese on top.
Everyone was free to pick whatever food they wanted, accompanying it with pieces of bread or vegetables lathered in hot creamy cheese.
“I just heard that you tried fighting Reiji earlier and got beaten to a pulp, is that true?”
A woman with black hair tied behind her back, and a drink in one hand, approached Kou’s table and spoke to them.
“Ah, father.”
“””Father?”””
Everyone tilted their heads in unison, hearing Reo greet her.
After all, they were talking to a woman, who also looked rather young, around the same age as Hinagiku’s mother Kikyo.
“Well, it’s a long story.”
“Huhh…”
The woman just shrugged, without giving it much importance, while Kou could not help but wonder what kind of story that was, and Reo just had a distant look, saying “It’s best if you don’t know, you’ll just get more confused.”
“Pretty much, so anyway, I’m Reo’s…well, I might look this way but I’m his father, Kuga Ayame. Nice to meet you.”
She introduced herself while going around the table, shaking everyone’s hands.
It was not just her who had approached that table either.
“And this is…”
“I’m Sorai Satoru, I used to do martial arts at one point. Nice to meet you all.”
After Ayame introduced herself, the person behind her…a man that was by no means weak, having a burly and well trained body, while still giving off a gentle appearance, also went to shake everyone’s hands.
As he did that…Subaru’s head jerked up, noticing something.
“Ah, are you that Sorai Satoru that won the mixed martial arts championship at a really young age, and then retired suddenly?”
“Oh…that really brings me back, but yes, that was me.”
Satoru appeared a little embarrassed when Subaru brought that up. Kou really had the image of martial artists being hot blooded and rowdy, so she was surprised to see how gentle mannered Satoru was.
“Anyway, me, Reiji, Ayame, and Kikyo over there, are the group that people have started calling the Four Emperors.”
As he said that, Satoru pointed to the other table, where Kikyo was watching Hinagiku eat with a gentle gaze.
“We didn’t even come up with that name, so it’s really embarrassing to say out loud.”
“Hahah, you’ve got that right.”
As Ayame complained about that, Satoru plopped his hand on her head to comfort her.
“Anyway, we’re here for a good reason.”
“It sounded like Reiji had a really good time earlier, so we want to train with you too.”
Those two said that almost like they had just found a new toy… But since Kou and Suzaku had no chance against Reiji alone, their faces contorted with fear wondering what would happen if they had to fight two more of the Four Emperors…
