Outside the game world. Many of the factions that had still been sitting on the sidelines, along with a number of sharp-nosed capital magnates, began rushing in one after another. They poured into the game, injecting it with even greater vitality.
At first, they had been unable to clearly discern the true intentions behind the Five Great Nations promoting this game. But the global anomalies that unfolded today allowed them to glimpse the underlying signs.
The world had truly changed! If they failed to catch this rising tide, they would likely be smashed to pieces by the surging wave of newcomers. And beyond that, some had begun to speculate about something even more terrifying.
The end was approaching!
Compared to ordinary netizens, the major powers undoubtedly possessed a deeper understanding of the world’s transformation. If such phenomena continued to occur frequently, perhaps the ancient prophecies would come to pass one by one.
Humanity would be forced to face its greatest and most severe trial of survival!
At this moment, fewer and fewer people remained on the sidelines. New faces continued to appear across the game’s servers.
“It’s not an illusion… the spiritual energy has grown denser… the world is beginning to awaken!” On the rooftop of the Mo Family skyscraper, Lisa felt the changes in the ambient spiritual energy and spoke with visible excitement.
She stood only half a step away from entering the Martial Saint realm. Yet that final half-step was not something one could cross so easily. It required either the right opportunity or a uniquely favorable environment.
“If the spiritual energy doubles again, I’ll need just a month… no, half a month to break through!” Gazing at the cold, tranquil night sky, a smile more radiant than the full moon blossomed across her face.
“The appearance of the Nine Cauldrons’ phantom is the signal of revival. I must seize the time and enter seclusion!” With that, Lisa moved in a flash and vanished from the rooftop.
Meanwhile, far away on another rooftop in Roc City. “These figures are seriously off!” Vera 18 exclaimed as she stared at the monitoring device left behind by Little Blue.
Hearing this, the other four clones immediately set aside what they were doing and came over to take a look. “Why are you shouting so loudly? If you wake Master, we’re done for,” Vera 1 scolded.
She then turned her gaze toward the projection screen suspended in midair, where two sets of data were displayed. One set showed the average data from Aqua Blue Star’s earlier phase of recovery. The other displayed the most recent data from its ongoing revival. The difference between the two exceeded a full doubling!
“This isn’t good,” Vera 3 said.
“Yeah, these numbers are way too high,” Vera 2 added, glancing toward the large bed placed side by side not far away. “Should we wake Master and let her take a look?”
“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” Vera 17 nodded.
“The problem is, who’s going to wake Master?” Vera 18 asked.
She had no idea whether Yae-hime had a temper upon waking. If they disturbed her rashly and it interfered with something happening inside the game, that would be a major problem.
Yet after thinking it over, she felt that the current situation was far more urgent. Yae-hime had to be informed. The moment she finished speaking, Vera 1, 2, 3, and 17 all turned to stare at her, their small hands lifting in unison as they pointed straight at her.
“Me?” Vera 18’s eyelid twitched as she hurriedly shook her head. “No, no way!” She had no desire to be strung up and beaten by Yae-hime.
“It’s already been decided that you’ll wake Master,” Vera 1 said.
Vera 2, 3, and 17 all nodded vigorously in agreement. One vote against four. Vera 18 suffered a complete defeat.
“No, I refuse!” she insisted, shaking her head firmly.
“One drumstick,” Vera 1 said after a brief hesitation, clearly pained as she made the offer. That drumstick, of course, would come out of her own share. Vera 18 still shook her head.
At this point, Vera 2 reluctantly added, “One Emereach prawn.”
Then Vera 3 chimed in, “One grilled fish.”
Finally, Vera 17 said, “One meat crab.”
“Fine… if I die, I die!” After hearing the reward, Vera 18 gritted her teeth and decided to go all in.
In truth, even without the reward, she would have been forced into waking Yae-hime anyway. After all, she had been the one to discover this abnormality first.
Just as Vera 18 was about to wake Yae-hime…
Inside the game world.
“Mm, so satisfying, that was really delicious~” Little Blue patted her still-flat stomach and said cheerfully. On the table, every single plate had been wiped clean.
Angelica’s lips twitched slightly. The midnight meal she had prepared had been enough to feed five people to fullness. Yet in the end, she had only managed to take a few bites before everything was gone.
‘She ate so elegantly, so how was she that fast!?’
“Princess, I’ll go make some more,” Angelica said as she was about to stand, only to be stopped by Yae-hime.
“No need. Just tasting it is enough.”
“But…” Angelica tried to continue.
“Tasting is enough,” Lili cut in.
“Mm-hm.” Zerene nodded.
Like Yae-hime, she could replenish her energy whether she ate or not.
“It’s late. Time to rest,” Yae-hime said softly after taking a sip of tea.
“Mm, it is quite late. I’ll clean up and then head to bed. Princess, Lady Lili, Zerene, Little Blue, good night everyone.”
After exchanging their goodnights, the group returned to the guest rooms. Lili and Zerene watched Little Blue clinging tightly to Yae-hime, and the sense of unease in their hearts grew even stronger.
However, to their surprise, Little Blue only clung to Yae-hime for a short while before quietly disappearing on her own. It seemed she had returned to the City of Chaos to supervise work.
The two of them let out a sigh of relief. At least tonight, they could each claim half of Yae-hime.
Five minutes later, Lili and Zerene were already fast asleep, breathing softly.
“It feels like something from outside is interfering with me… I should log out and take a look,” Yae-hime murmured as she stared at the repaired roof. In the next instant, a flash of white light flickered, and she vanished from the bed.
“Master, wake up, hurry, something’s wrong,” Vera 18 whispered as she gently nudged Yae-hime’s body. Her cautious manner left the others speechless with frustration.
‘Are you really that scared?’
‘It’s just a few swats from Master!’
‘It’s not like you’ll lose a piece of flesh!’
As the saying goes, when it doesn’t concern you, it’s easy to stay detached. Naturally, they would think that way.
“Eighteen, what are you doing?” Yae-hime opened her eyes and immediately saw the little girl sitting beside her, pushing her awake.
After spending these past days together, she could already distinguish between the five of them through subtle differences. If she relied on their auras, the distinction would be even clearer.
“Master, you’re finally awake! Aqua Blue Star has undergone a major change!” Vera 18 said hurriedly. She could tell that Yae-hime was slightly displeased.
“What!?” Upon hearing this, Yae-hime sprang upright from the bed, gripping Vera 18’s shoulders with both hands. “What exactly happened to Aqua Blue Star?”
“The… the rate of its recovery suddenly accelerated!” Vera 18 stammered, her face tensing as Yae-hime leaned in so close.
In the next moment, Yae-hime’s heart jolted, and an extremely ominous premonition surged within her. She quickly got out of bed and turned toward the virtual screen. In just a short while, her pupils shrank noticeably, and her complexion turned slightly pale.
“The rate of recovery… has increased by more than double…” The instant she said this, Yae-hime noticed the exact timing of the surge. It coincided precisely with the moment she had moved the City of Chaos. Not even a second off.
“Could it really be related to the City of Chaos!?” The moment she relocated the City of Chaos back to the Saint Demon World, the recovery rate of Aqua Blue Star skyrocketed. No matter how she thought about it, it couldn’t be separated from the City of Chaos.
And if she thought even deeper, it was possible that even the initial awakening had been caused by the City of Chaos itself!
