“Ah, I see. So that ability can be bothersome like that too!”

Quickly dealing with the four Dark Knights around him, he set his sights on Mira again, throwing a kukri without waiting a moment.
Since it was only one this time, Mira protected herself with a Holy Knight shield.
Then it struck. A thunderous explosion followed as the shield shattered to pieces.

“Oh, so some of them are like that too.”

All of the kukris looked the same, but some had different properties. Including some that exploded with enough force to shatter a shield.

Now that was something one could expect from a professional assassin sent by Ira Muerte. That raised Mira’s opinion of his skills, but it also meant that he was an even better test subject.

As a devilish grin appeared on Mira’s face, the assassin relentlessly threw more kukris. There were four of them in total, and if they all exploded like the last one, then they would break through the Holy Knights’ defenses and reach Mira.

But she was not fazed, she quickly identified each of the four kukris, and deployed her summons in order.
Four magic circles appeared in the air, from which black arms emerged, throwing warhammers at the incoming projectiles.
Those massive iron hammers knocked all of the kukris out of the air, exploding once they struck the ground and made everything shake.

“What…”

That was not something the assassin had seen before, leaving him stunned, just like her ability to stop his attacks did.
He knew just how precise his skills were, giving him a measure of Mira’s strength.
Realizing he had miscalculated, he began considering his available options.
But he did not have any time left.

“I already said that it would take me three minutes, and they’re almost up. I’ll just try out my new move now.”

She sounded almost thankful for the opportunity as she smiled, and an overwhelming number of magic circles appeared in the air.

The moment he saw that, the assassin felt his soul leave his body for a moment. Normally he kept all his emotions in check, remaining calm no matter the situation, but this time he could not help but dread what was about to befall him.

“No one told me there was anyone like this other than the Twelve Apostles!”

He turned around without a single thought, his instincts screaming that he had to escape, but there was no way of getting away from Mira.
A moment later, warhammers rained behind him, first closing his escape route, then completely covering him.

“Eughh…somehow it’s even worse than before…”

Noin was watching from a distance, and looked horrified by what he saw, to the extent that he even pitied the assassin.
He could not understand why she had to take things so far, why she had to come up with such inhumane abilities.

Just thinking of the time he had to face against Danbulf’s army made him shudder, unlike the guards who were a bit shocked but found it really exciting. Maybe if Noin had never fought her, he would have reacted the same way as them.

“Wait, are you sure that was safe to use? I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s dead under all that.”

Only a mountain of warhammers remained where the assassin had stood. Noin soon realized how dangerous that was, and called out to Mira with a trembling voice.

“He’s fine…I think.”

Mira was aware that they needed to capture the assassin alive for further questioning, but even she looked around nervously seeing that her attack was even more effective than she anticipated.

She used Life Sensing, praying that her experiment had been a success, and found a really weak signal deep under the hammers.

“Yes, he’s alive!”

While internally sighing with relief, she proudly announced that her experiment had gone according to plan.

Her idea was to extend the lifetime of partially summoned weapons to two minutes, allowing them to stay in place and restrain enemies. That was also why she had picked the warhammers as the weapon of choice, as they had a large mass and would weigh down on enemies better.

This time it had worked out. It had been a bit tricky to dial the right amount of power to use, as the assassin was quite skilled himself, so she erred on the side of excess. Now she was excited that it had worked as she began moving the hammers aside one after another.

“Mhm, perfect.”

His body was terribly mangled in parts, but he was in no risk of dying. Lying there, all the assassin could do was follow Mira with his eyes full of derision.

“…Who on earth are you…”

He began wriggling a bit, trying to free up at least one hand so he could fight back to some extent.
In response, Mira activated her Magic Eye and stared at him, paralyzing the squirming assassin while saying, “As you can see, I’m just a summoner,” making sure she was heard by the guards.

“Ack…”

Once the paralysis spread through his entire body and he could not move anymore, Mira finally got rid of the warhammers and approached him, Arresting Cloth in hand.

During the entire time, she kept glancing back to see the guards’ reactions, who were all silently watching in anticipation, wanting to see what else the Spirit Queen could do. And Noin was virtually the exact opposite.

“Let’s bring this one to our special little room too.”

As a Holy Knight picked up the restrained assassin, Mira turned around to talk to Noin. Their first captive that day had been unable to give any useful information, but someone as capable as the assassin would surely know more.

“Yes, good idea. He should be able to talk for longer.”

Then he looked at the captive and commented, “But Esmeralda might have to heal him a bit first.”
With that, their job there was done and they could return to the interrogation room.

“Sorry to interrupt, but I’ll be taking him back.”

The whole sky went red as an unknown voice spoke to them.
Looking up, there were countless blazing fireballs heading straight at them.

“Keep close to me!”

Noin’s loud voice was mostly meant for the guards, as a glowing barrier soon appeared all around him. Not a moment passed after Mira and the rest were behind the barrier when the fireballs hit, spreading in raging crimson flames.

The violent strike shook the ground, as the overlapping explosions echoed around them.
It was like they were under direct artillery fire, the guards’ fearful voices also mixing into the explosions.

After four or five seconds the barrage finally cleared off, revealing just how much the surroundings had changed in such a short time.
While Mira had caused plenty of destruction already, the training area was completely unrecognizable now, blown apart and scorched everywhere.
