“…I’ve had enough of this!”
An afternoon one day.
Crim came back from school and stayed in-game late into the night. There, under the light of the moon and a torch, she examined the reports sent in by various of her allies.
That was when White Lily barged into the office, shaking with rage.
“Umm… What’s this about?”
“Your whole policy against the Holy Kingdom! Don’t you think it’s time to take this threat more seriously?!”
“Ah…”
They had started by building military encampments for the Black Wolf Pack around the borders, which would become the main battlefield. Most of the resources and work was going into that, and even seventy percent of the available construction golems were there.
Then they also increased the influx of materials, with everyone stockpiling everything they could. All the artisans and crafters were also working tirelessly to manufacture all the items and equipment necessary.
All that was left was to wait for the Holy Kingdom to attack and gather all their forces there…
“That’s what I mean! Isn’t it about time that we take a more proactive approach to this conflict?!”
Currently, their whole plan revolves around waiting for an attack and then dispatching forces to fight back there.
That way they had managed to keep their expenses down…but at the same time, it was a really reactive way of handling things, allowing the Holy Kingdom to dictate the pace of everything.
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be changing our overall policy. We’ll continue strengthening our land as a whole, and prepare for war, whenever it breaks out.”
“Is it really okay to remain so passive? There’s already rumors that they outnumber us three to one!”
Due to the way the Holy Kingdom had been instated, they had a large number of members. The only saving grace was that many of them were being peer pressured into taking part, so morale was not very high.
Still, three times as many fighters… In theory, they could divide their forces into three groups equal in number to the full force of the Lua Cheia United Kingdoms, one to hold the frontline, another ranged one to attack the rear lines, and magicians to attack the entire army.
“That aside, any news from the elves of Floria?”
“You’re really brushing that aside? Ugh… Okay so the elves aren’t very thrilled. They’re mostly worrying about hypotheticals, wondering what will happen if we lose, since we’re the only ones guaranteeing their independence.”
“I see…that’s good then.”
“What about it is good?!”
While Crim nodded satisfied, White Lily shouted in exasperation, nearly lifting Crim by her collar.
“…Everything is going as planned, there’s nothing to worry about.”
As Crim’s voice became stern in an instant, White Lily’s anger was blown away as she staggered back.
“And…it’s not like I’ve just been sitting on my a̲s̲s̲. Or rather, this is the first time I’ve been putting this much effort into a plan.”
Saying that, Crim began to shuffle through the various diagrams the Black Wolf Pack had provided her, showing prospective battle formations.
“So they claim that they have three times as many active players than us, do they? From my count, a difference of *three hundred players* isn’t something to be concerned about.”
Crim spoke with little concern as she looked at the diagrams. It was clear that she was not bluffing, but meant every single word she said.
“You’re not talking in terms of collective courage or something silly like that…are you?”
“Of course not. Actual numbers are important in any battlefield, with the exception of something as large scale as our fight with Aery.”
Crim shrugged after saying that.
While she was skilled enough to deal with multiple enemies on her own, she did not have the endurance to fight off a legion of players with disposable lives, like they had done when fighting Aery.
When it came to it, *wars were decided by numbers*.
“Just what are you planning?”
“That’s a secret. All I’ll say is that they lack the most crucial knowledge when it comes to wars in this world.”
Crim chuckled menacingly after saying that, her small fangs twinkling as they reflected the nearby lights..
“…The seeds have been sown. We just have to wait patiently as we build up our nation’s defenses.”
“…I’d hate being your opponent after knowing this side of you.”
Her individual talent fighting was already something to behold, but when it came to anything related to war, she had a multifaceted natural gift as well… At least that was how the leader of Nord Glacier had described Crim in the past, as White Lily recalled now.
While Crim smirked mischievously, White Lily could not help but get a cold sweat.
