■ Sixth Regular Report (Class A Confidential) ■
Submitted by: Special Technical Officer Kurtze, Dragonfire Engineering Corps
Since the results of the investigation have reached a certain level of coherence, I will provide a report, albeit incomplete.
■ Status of Lüenheit
The governance of Lüenheit is exceptionally stable. Public order and the economy are maintained at a high level, with absolutely no signs of unrest.
Surprisingly, the Lüenheit City Guard is actively cooperating in maintaining public order. While they outwardly claim neutrality, they are effectively working in tandem with the Demon Lord’s Army. Though our engineers have repeatedly analyzed and discussed how this situation came to be, we have yet to reach a conclusion.
Public sentiment is not negative either—on the whole, the populace seems rather favorable toward the Demon Lord’s Army. It is presumed this is largely due to the werewolf and dogman units showing respect for Lüenheit’s laws and social values.
As for the personal evaluation of Governor Aylia, we must wait for further investigation. However, it is observed that she appears dutiful and loyal to her office.
Additional reports will follow.
■ Siege of Tübahn
Due to the unexpectedly high durability of Tübahn’s castle gates, the plan to destroy them using waxcorpse soldiers and lightning magic failed.
The urban-fighting weakness of our main force, the centaur cavalry, and the charge-inability of our other main force, the skeleton troops, undeniably limited our tactical options.
However, implementation of Vice-Commander Veit’s secondary plan led to the successful breach of the gate. Tübahn was taken with only minimal casualties.
That said, all reserves of “Dragon’s Breath” in its unrefined state (prior to processing into “Dragon Orb”) were lost in the process. Immediate resupply is requested.
Several issues were observed in Vice-Commander Veit’s handling of this matter:
- Placed the volatile “Dragon’s Breath” in large, unwieldy barrels.
- Conducted no preliminary testing.
- Personally deployed the substance without establishing a safe operational protocol.
- Used the confidential weapon “Dragon’s Breath” openly without concealment.
These problems are likely the result of the differing perspectives between technical and military personnel. However, I strongly recommend that future use of such substances be delegated solely to technical officers.
That said, this operation provided the first-ever field data on using “Dragon’s Breath” to destroy gates, and will significantly aid in future weapon development.
Currently, the citizens of Tübahn harbor an almost pathological fear of Vice-Commander Veit, and there have been zero hostile actions toward the Demon Lord’s Army.
In one experiment, three captured enemy archers were told, “Vice-Commander Veit is calling for you.” All immediately suffered severe panic attacks. Due to the time needed to calm and rehabilitate them, and in consideration of humanitarian ethics, such psychological experiments have now been suspended.
Related to this, further investigation revealed that Vice-Commander Veit is being referred to by the citizens and city guard of Tübahn with the following titles:
- Veit the Slayer of Four Hundred
- Veit the Massacrer
- Veit the Gatebreaker
- Veit the Skeleton King
- Veit the Werewolf General
- Veit of the Setting Sun
The last title is believed to originate from the previous incident involving the emissary priest of the Sonnenlicht Faith.
■ New Equipment
Vice-Commander Veit initially appeared visibly disappointed upon receiving the explanation of the “Dragon Orb.” However, he quickly realized it was a communication device, and immediately deployed it during the siege of Tübahn, successfully avoiding an ambush by enemy archers.
This decisive action has been highly praised among the Dragonfire technical officers.
In addition, he immediately recognized the prototype telescope as an observational tool and used it appropriately. He is judged to be a person of sharp insight, excellent comprehension, and capable of flexible thinking.
■ Addendum
A particularly interesting sample was collected. It is attached to this report and may be received from the liaison officer.
—Kurtze, Technical Officer
