Having such a rare Job, Belltina’s family is surely at least keeping an eye on her, but her act of hiding its utility is probably why she was disowned.
Is the reason why Belltina keeps it secret even after being disowned because she doesn’t think her parents will find it useful, because she doesn’t realize its possible applications herself, or because of some other reason?
If she can avoid aiming for quick success while still being willing to take a certain level of risk, then I believe that Belltina should be able to make a decent living as a hunter. Though if I had to say, if she pairs with Palra, then they might be able to have a reasonably consistent rate of success.
As the class period approaches, I look around and observe that there might be more people than during Combat Training. No, there actually is more.
Certain troublemakers—Alcrei and Juerd—that weren’t present during Combat Training were around, so I immediately realized it. Unlike Combat Training, which can be done even in the privacy of your home, Field Training requires the students to enter a forest, so people generally can’t skip it. Everyone starts from basic-level. The necessary aptitude for this can’t really be assessed during the entrance exam, so it does make sense.
Well, we were actually granted an exemption for this as well. After all, we already have a track record of venturing into forests for hunter-related work. Even among people our age, being E-rank is rare. This academy does have a number of students whose combat abilities or physical prowess might surpass E-rank standards in certain respects—like in rule-bound duels or in sheer agility—but to be officially recognized as an E-rank hunter, you also need camping and survival skills… Or so I think. In our case, though, camping simply means putting up a barrier and sleeping anywhere. And since I stay awake, I can immediately respond if anything happens.
Now, regarding Alcrei, I don’t know if he just doesn’t care to pay attention to his surroundings or if he deems the people in this class unworthy of attention, but he has not noticed Belltina’s presence. I don’t really mind, since we might get roped into trouble if he does. Also, Belltina seems to know that Alcrei is present, as she is hiding behind Palra’s silhouette.
「Seems like everyone’s here. Alright, gather around.」
It looks like Ishparht’s party is also in charge of this course, as evidenced by the familiar—though still unnamed—teachers present.
However, perhaps because there are more students this time, another party has joined them, and there are now around 10-odd teachers.
「Now, for Field Training, we will have everyone here right now group themselves in parties of 3-6 people. Once you’ve decided on your party, inform any of us teachers who your members are, and from then on, if there are any further changes in your party composition, make sure to similarly update us about it. In particular, if one of your members are to leave or be replaced, we’ll need to confirm that the majority of your party members are in agreement with it. Otherwise, we will only give permission for special circumstances.」
What I’ve feared has come to fruition. Still, I’ve considered this possibility and have already marked candidates for our party.
Still, isn’t this quite sudden? Are they telling us that we should befriend other people within the allotted time or that we need to be able to work with anyone to some extent?
Them making it difficult to change parties might also be to discourage the students from just grouping randomly with whoever is left.
「Once you’ve formed your party, your task today is to climb to the summit of the mountain and bring back one of the tokens we’ve placed there. Let me make this clear: failing to collect a token today will not affect your grade, so don’t rush; take your time deciding who to partner with. This is primarily a task for those who formed their parties quickly and are currently unoccupied. That said, all students are required to enter the forest at least once during this course, so make sure to finalize your party before the end of this period. If you haven’t chosen your party members by then, we’ll assign the remaining students into groups ourselves, just so you’re aware.」
As Ishparht finished explaining, the students immediately moved.
The majority appear to have formed parties with the people they usually socialize with, since Alcrei grouped with his cohorts and quickly left for the mountain, while Juerd is with his usual lineup. The only difference from the usual is that Rulinia isn’t with them.
Speaking of Rulinia, she seems to have joined the princess’ party, which consists of the princess, Rulinia, Rynaetra, and one unfamiliar student. Not only is the student unfamiliar, but he? is probably one of Munyechka’s dolls. The doll appears to be a boy equipped with a shield and a one-handed sword. He’s short but has the vibe of a protagonist with a strong sense of justice.
Princess Leshimiiya doesn’t seem to have realized this, but he’s sure to be a top-class bodyguard. I have no idea how they met, but I suspect that it could be through the headmistress.
『So we really have to form a party, huh?』
『Right, but fortunately, we have people we can comfortably team up with, don’t we?』
『Well, just as you said, Ain. Far better than grouping with random strangers.』
「Shall we form a party with the three of us?」
「I’m fine with that. Honestly, thanks. I really don’t think I could team up with anyone other than you two, so I’m really glad.」
「Bell can’t think of other people as well!」
Hearing their blatantly relieved replies, I couldn’t help but think about how helplessly weak they are in terms of communication skills.
And that ends this update! It looks like our girls are going to have a group activity this time! It’s been so long since our last full newbie party shenanigans, I think?
This class also has Alcrei and Juerd present, and it was funny how Ain was, “Oh, they’re here. Something’s wrong, I can feel it in my bones,” like *immediately*. The princess is also here, but she’s practically in every other class that her time allows. It was pretty cute how Palra and Belltina were relieved upon hearing Ciel’s invitation, our cute socially awkward extrovert and introvert can’t (not) be this cute. Let’s see how things develop with basically everyone being here in this class.
Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
