Let’s have a cheap 1 month timeskip
There were three different levels of groups that players could form in Destiny Unchain Online.
Small groups of friends were called Guilds. When multiple guilds banded together in an alliance, they became a Clan. And then, there was one more tier, made up of a much larger number of players working together. This required multiple Clans holding territory across various regions to agree to unite under a single leadership, officially forming what was called a Union.
Within the month or so since the victory in R’lyeh, two such nations had already been established.
The first encompassed the northern and northwestern regions of the continent, centered around the guild Nord Glacier. Their leader had been dubbed Emperor, and the domain was known as Nord Glacier’s Northern Empire.
The second was centered around Lan Canglong, the guild that took control of the eastern part of the continent. After reaching an agreement with surrounding guilds, they established a parliamentary system and founded the Blueline Republic.
There was also the Starting City Wyndham and its surrounding areas, where many beginners gathered. Several groups had formed there to maintain peace, and while not officially recognized, it functioned as an independent force, essentially a third power.
Those were the three main forces in the first server of Destiny Unchain Online… but the southwestern region of the continent remained untouched.
Change, however, was starting to take root there as well.
◇◇◇
A large number of players were gathered in the courtyard of Castle Seyfert, the headquarters of Crim’s guild, Lua Cheia.
Among them were the S.S.S. Band, based in the desert plateau east of the Howling Ogre Ridge. Uninterested in the draconic rule of the guilds around Wyndham, they had recently allied themselves with Lua Cheia.
The Black Wolf Pack was also present. They had long been rivals of Lua Cheia, ever since suffering a crushing defeat during the first ranked tournament. Despite many rematches, they had never managed to win, but now they had brought their own friends, forming an alliance of beastman-themed guilds.
Other smaller guilds and Clans were there too, drawn not by Lua Cheia’s regional influence, but by loyalty to Crim herself. The courtyard was packed with all of them.
Crim stood in astonishment, watching the growing crowd, when a familiar voice called out to her.
It was Elmir, the leader of the Silver Wings guild, and Lua Cheia’s first official ally.
“Hey there, Demon Lord. Looks like the time has finally come.”
“Elmir… Now that I think on it, I have sent thee on many errands since our alliance first began.”
“Haha, it’s fine. I had my reasons for it, so there’s no need to thank me.”
Elmir smiled innocently as he replied.
Since becoming a guild leader and looking after others, he had changed. His former bad reputation was gone, and Silver Wings was now known as a guild that helped newcomers get started.
He and Crim had agreed that once the Garland Citadel was liberated, Elmir would be entrusted with it. That was likely the “reason” he mentioned earlier. Either way, the two guilds would remain closely allied going forward.
As their conversation wrapped up, another voice called out to Crim. She turned to see a proud and elegant woman with striking golden curls.
“I appreciate thy decision to reach out to us, and for coming here in person, White Lily.”
“It’s fine. I agreed because I’ve had to rebuild everything from scratch again, and because I’ve got a feeling joining forces with you is my best chance at revenge against that b̲a̲s̲t̲a̲r̲d̲.”
She twirled a lock of hair with a smug tone. She was White Lily, the leader of Lily Garden, a guild defeated by Sorleon alone in the first ranked tournament.
That crushing defeat had caused the guild to fall apart at the time, but they had returned to the game recently.
Having missed many ranked events, they struggled to reclaim their former influence and sought Lua Cheia’s support.
Rumors said Lily Garden was composed of students from a school for wealthy girls. If true, that meant they had useful connections, resources that Crim and Lua Cheia could leverage for a secret plan currently in the works.
White Lily was now one of Crim’s closest advisors and managers.
“So… I assume this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for, considering you called all our allies together?”
“Yes. And I’m certain we achieved this only thanks to thy help. I’m truly grateful.”
“D-Don’t mention it… I didn’t really do all that much.”
Crim’s direct thanks made her fidget with a curl of her hair, clearly not used to such sincerity. Meanwhile, Crim opened a window in her interface.
One specific option in that window had remained greyed out and unusable for as long as she could remember… but now it was glowing.
All the players gathered in the courtyard were those who had agreed to join the alliance. The reason Crim had called them together was because of a single button that had become available in the window before her.
…The label on that button read: Found a Country.
This was the result of all the alliances Lua Cheia had built.
Once a sufficient number of members across the guild network approved it, that button would unlock, allowing them to officially establish a nation.
About half a year had passed since Lua Cheia began as a small guild in this remote lakeside town, and now it had grown strong enough to claim rule over one of the four major countries on the continent.
“Enough with the sappy talk. Time to go do the thing.”
“Yes, let’s not keep everyone waiting.”
Elmir and White Lily encouraged Crim, ushering her to step in front of the crowd.
A throne had been set up for her already.
Standing beside it were the other members of Lua Cheia, honored representatives dressed in the same uniforms they had worn during the ranked tournament. Their faces were filled with a mix of anticipation and nerves as Crim stepped up.
As she stood before the throne, the previously loud crowd fell quiet. All eyes turned to Crim as she slowly raised her voice to address everyone.
“Before anything else… I want to express my gratitude to all our allied guilds and Clans gathered here.” As she said that, she reached for the hem of her black dress beneath her coat and lifted it slightly in a graceful curtsy to thank them all.
“And now… we stand but one step away from claiming the southwestern reaches of the continent as our own, thus placing us among the four great powers that reign over this land. Thy agreement and steadfast support in bringing this to pass hath been invaluable.”
Everyone listened intently as Crim stepped forward and extended her hand toward the crowd.
“Our aim is to forge a free nation, not one ruled by a single hand, but a confederation wherein we uphold one another, ever striving toward mutual cooperation.”
In truth, Lua Cheia’s power within the Union would be much more limited than that of Nord Glacier or Lan Canglong. The other territories joining the Union would remain governed by their own chosen leaders. Crim would only hold direct authority over her original territory.
“Oh? So nothing’s actually going to change, Demon Lord?”
“Heh… heheh… that’s not incorrect, but there’s no need to tease me about it.”
“Well, somehow I’m not surprised.”
Crim just shrugged with a smile as White Lily and Elmir poked fun at her, earning a few chuckles from the crowd. But Crim was fine with that.
She never had any desire to rule like Sorleon or Shao. In fact, the idea of overseeing large regions filled with players sounded far too exhausting. No matter how many people followed her, she always saw them as fellow players, not as subjects beneath her.
But if her leadership meant they could help each other and maintain peace, she was willing to take on that role. She wasn’t looking to build a strict hierarchy, just a network of friends who could help her watch over places she couldn’t reach herself.
“Alright, enough of the sentimental stuff. Let’s get on with it!”
“Yes, everyone’s waiting.”
Urged by Frey and Freya behind her, and seeing her friends smiling at her with approval, Crim took a breath and pressed the button.
“I, Crim Lua Cheia, stand here as the representative of everyone present to establish a new nation…”
“…From today onward, this region shall be known as the Lua Cheia United Kingdom!”
«The Union: Lua Cheia United Kingdom has been created with the Foggy Lakeside Town of Nebel as its capital city.»
