“Dead. Was it truly worth it, Zeng De?”

A distinct entrant, markedly different from the earlier red spider, now commanded the scene: a vividly blue spider, conspicuous and stark against a canvas populated by its red kin beneath it.

Adorned with white fuzz at its shoulders and hips, the azure arachnid, its captivating body encased in a sapphire shell, notably bore no silk sac on its back, diverging from its red counterparts.

Upon reading Mr. Spider’s final words inscribed on the floor, its eyebrows furrowed in contemplation. Masterfully orchestrating a group of its kind to emerge from the walls, it facilitated a chilling spectacle of self-sacrifice, their sapphire lifeblood quickly masking and then evaporating to obliterate the previous message. Its gaze, unwavering and scrutinizing, settled definitively on Lin Feng’s concealed position.

“Is that traitor Song Zhiqiang finally dead?” inquired the red spider, descending from the ceiling, tail deftly severing its anchoring silk.

“He’s dead, Zhang Xiaohong,” sighed the blue spider, dubbed Lan Bao, its attention shifting towards Zhang Xiaohong.

“I warned him; this would be his end if he didn’t obey,” snorted Zhang Xiaohong, interrogating further. “Have you seen a white she-cat? Entirely white hair, tail, ears, clad in an orange hazmat suit, with a blue bow strapped to her back?” His inquiry lingered as his eyes perused Mr. Spider’s lifeless form.

“Only his corpse was present when I arrived,” Lan Bao replied.

After a moment locked in Lan Bao’s gaze, Zhang Xiaohong withdrew his eyes.

“Is that so? Let us retreat to our nest, then,” Zhang Xiaohong concluded, springing towards the depths below.

Lan Bao, the spider woman, cast a lingering glance in Lin Feng’s direction before ascending towards the cave herself.

As their leaders retreated, the red spiders scattered in a disciplined exodus.

Lin Feng, plummeting from the stairwell rooftop, expelled a surge of fresh blood from his lips.

“Doc is going to have my tail on a platter for this,” he grumbled inwardly, hand clasping his sunken chest, ever returning with fresh wounds after each venture.

But, considering Hao Jian also sustained injuries this time, and given his normal human frame, he’d probably be suffering more than Lin Feng. At least there would be additional company by the bedside this time around.

Lin Feng’s thoughts provided a modicum of solace, his mind inching towards a subtle resolve.

The immediate mission was clear: Escape!

In his present state, Lin Feng couldn’t resist the spiders; the battle was unfairly matched in both strength and number. No one could have foreseen a BOSS-level monster appearing within the school.

The answer was unambiguous: flee! Retreat as far as possible, and return only when he’d amassed enough power or acquired a weapon like a missile launcher.

Surreptitiously, he crept to the base of the girls’ dormitory.

“Where do you think you’re going, little kitty~?”

“Crap.”

At the voice, Lin Feng instinctively reached for his bow, but Zhang Xiaohong, already lying in wait, wouldn’t allow him the chance. Spider silk shot swiftly from a bush, binding Lin Feng’s wrist.

After a futile tug on the obstinately robust silk, Lin Feng, resigned, used his free hand to reach for the dagger at his waist.

The silk assaulted him like a ceaseless barrage, clumping his previously sleek fur into a sticky tangle.

“I knew Lan Bao wouldn’t tell the truth. She, too, is a traitor, ha! Just like that fool, all drowning in their delusions. Once I deliver you to the Queen, she will surely reward me with even more power,” Zhang Xiaohong strutted towards Lin Feng, spinning him in spider silk, enveloping him tightly.

“You should be ashamed for discarding your humanity. At least Song Zhiqiang had the decency to struggle.”

“Shut up! No one can escape her web, her control. Ah~ My Queen,” Zhang Xiaohong’s eyes became vacant, his golden pupils replacing the crimson hue, as he perused Lin Feng, now trussed before him.

“Oh~ So you’re the creature who burnt my garden?”
