“Yes… We are worth less than the stones by the hearth…”
“Command us as you please, for we are nothing more than worms…”
“Master, they look really down in the dumps!”
“Wow, so a human body really can go flying like that.”

Momo and the Thuru followers’ arm-wrestling match ended in an almost instant defeat.

Considering their well-trained physiques, one might have expected a tougher fight, but how cruel the gifts of the gods could be.

And so, the two men who had been bested by a seemingly frail girl had their pride utterly shattered, leading them to adopt their current submissive attitudes.

“Thank you, Ms. Momo. Now, let’s get straight to the questions—”
“NOOO!!! Though we have indeed lost, it was not to Ascles!!!”
“Only the strong may command us! We shall not comply otherwise!!!”
“Ms. Roche! Where did you even pull out those massive gauntlets from!?”
“Let go of me, Ms. Momo. I shall make them experience the sensation of pain and healing entwined as one.”
“Momo, we’re getting nowhere. It’ll be faster if you ask them yourself. The Saint wants to know about that girl, Ragna.”
“Ngghh! Ragna, you say!?”

The moment they heard that name, the two hulking men stopped their unnecessary posturing and straightened their backs.

It seemed they recognized the name, and faint traces of hostility radiated from them.

“D-Do you know her? Um…”
“My name is William Chussé… I am the elder brother…”
“And I am William Banssé… I deeply apologize for our delayed introduction…”
“Momo, tell them to stop adjusting their energy levels every time they address you—it’s a hassle.”
“Yes! Please stop that, both of you! And if you know anything about Ragna, please tell us!”
“WE SHALL COMPLY!!! That wretched brat wields Lord Thuru’s lightning and wreaks havoc across the land!!!”
“Yet with her unmatched strength and thunderous might!!! She undoubtedly possesses power equivalent to that of a high-ranking Thuru follower!!!!”
“So, she can use magic despite not belonging to the church… Strange.”

Deciphering the words of these overly theatrical men was exhausting, but the gist was clear.

Still, if even the Thuru followers knew nothing of Ragna’s origins, then just where had that girl acquired such immense power?

“Is there a chance that they’re covering for that girl?”
“I don’t believe they’re the type to lie. Besides, the more devout a Thuru follower is, the more they should revere Ms. Momo as the victor. It’s unlikely they’d resort to deception.”
“I see. Still, possessing power on par with a high-ranking priest at such a young age despite not belonging to the church…”
“Master, are you really one to talk about age?”
“Shut up. It’s a genuinely strange case. The fastest way to borrow power from the gods is by joining a church—yet she’s completely bypassed that process.”
“That’s true… We’ll look into it in more detail on our end. You two must have your own tasks—head to the Magecraft District.”
“Huh? I thought you were going to ask us to help. Are you sure?”
“Yes. If they only listen to brute strength, then we have Koutei.”
“Wait, what?”
“Got it. Then we’ll leave it to you.”

Given the conflict between Thuru and Ascles, she’d really go through with it… or rather, she absolutely will. But that’s none of our concern.

At best, that golem can serve as a human—no, a golem sacrifice.

“I-Is this really okay…?”
“We must not let his sacrifice be in vain. Let’s proceed swiftly to the Magecraft District.”

“Alrighty, this is the country, I mean, city border control office. Well now, what beauties we’ve got here.”
“Hey there, hello. Believe it or not, we’re a couple of adventurers. Mind letting us through?”

Before us stood a small checkpoint at the wall that divided Rigel into three sections. Guarding the gate was a scruffy-bearded wizard.

Judging by his demeanor, he seemed reasonably skilled. At a glance, he was about 0.8 Novas in strength.

“Oh, adventurers, huh? Let’s see your guild cards… Oh-ho, a Three-Star at your age? Impressive.”
“Master is an amazing person!”
“Hey, stop interrupting. I heard from an acquaintance that presenting a guild card is enough to pass. Is that really all there is to it?”
“Pretty much. We can’t afford to run strict screenings every time someone moves through the city. A Three-Star ranking means the guild vouches for you—go on through.”

“Sounds like it’s just for show. Does it actually mean anything?”
“Not really. What you said is correct—it’s just for show. The three factions at the top hate each other’s guts.”
“I’d heard about that, but splitting the city apart sounds like a pretty deep-seated issue. What’s the reason?”
“Ah… if I recall correctly, a messy love affair?”
“They should be forced to resign, all of them.”

Some fools, it seemed, would always drag their romantic entanglements into their work, no matter the era.

Building a wall couldn’t have been cheap, yet those responsible went through with it anyway. And somehow, the people of Rigel had accepted it.

“Well, it’s not all bad. Crossing city borders is a bit of a hassle, but since all the top brass are fiercely competitive, they push each other to improve.”
“I see, so this is that… three-power separation thing, right?”
“What’s this, Momo? Have you reached the age where you want to use big words?”
“Master, even I’ll cry sometimes, you know?”
“Haha! You two are funny! If you’re looking for a good meal, check out the place across from the adventurers’ guild. Their herb-roasted dishes are top-notch!”
“That’s a useful tip—thanks.”

Parting ways with the gatekeeper mage, we passed through the wooden checkpoint.

On the other side of the wall, the scenery was entirely different from the Magic District.

Naturally, the Magic District was filled with churches and chapels, giving it a quiet, reverent atmosphere.

But in the Magecraft District, various shops and buildings were neatly arranged like a grid, embodying a structured, wizard-like sense of practicality and order.

“Wow, it’s just like Kyoto! Hardly any tall buildings!”
“The tallest ones seem to be the guild, the medical facilities… and is that a school? The more essential or high-priority buildings are placed where they stand out.”
“They really thought it through, huh? So, what’s the plan now?”
“First, let’s check in at the guild. We’ll probably need their help sooner or later. After lunch, we’ll look for a place where we can get your body examined.”
“The herb-roast place, right?!”
“That’s the one thing you remember well, huh? Try not to trip.”

With the excited Momo in tow, I set off toward the guild.

The grid-like roads seemed to also serve the purpose of dispersing foot traffic, making it easy to navigate. Thanks to that, we reached our destination without getting caught in any major crowds.

“Please, O Savior of Aldebaran!! Save our academy!!!”
“……Huh?”

And just three minutes after arriving, I was greeted by the sight of the Guildmaster in a perfect dogeza.
