‘Fill this well with gold coins.’

Mo Li was certain this time; he wasn’t hallucinating. These words indeed manifested in his mind.

The messages appearing within this ring were all cryptic and intricate texts, resembling characters from an ancient, forgotten script. Despite this though, Mo Li was able to understand the meanings they conveyed.

“Fill this well with gold coins?” After absorbing the concise message, Mo Li felt an overwhelming urge to unleash a string of expletives.

****1, if I had enough gold coins to fill this well would I still be in this current situation?

Why did Mo Li invest so much hope in this ring? Isn’t it because he hoped for it to possess special abilities that could potentially earn him wealth?

Yet, after wasting a considerable time on it, the ring not only failed to assist him but also requested that he fill up a well’s worth of gold coins.

You could have given anyone a hard time, but no it had to be me. Is it fun to give a beggar who can’t even scrounge together a singular gold coin a hard time?

With this sentiment, Mo Li even contemplated throwing the ring into the well to let it understand just how deep this really well is.

“Also, what happens after I fill this well, what benefits can you offer me?” What kinda game you playing at, just telling me to fill this well without any other directions?

What, is filling this well going to solve all of life’s mysteries for me? But how long is it going to take to fill this well? For Mo Li who was extremely poor, not being in debt is already considered a blessing, where was he going to find the leisure to save money.

This ring isn’t planning to slowly exploit me my whole life after setting its sights on my lifespan as a dragon right??

Mo Li dusted off his butt, then found a random place to sit brimming with discontent.

The hour had quite grown late, and Mo Li gazed upward, the scene before him now would almost definitely be the myriads of dazzling stars painted upon the night sky if he were to dispel the ring’s spatial projection.

But, in actuality, the myriads of stars weren’t the only things shining.

“That’s…” Mo Li rubbed his eyes, and after confirming repeatedly, he slowly rose to his feet, struggling to close his gaping mouth.

The floor within the ring’s world was paved with gold coins. If these coins could be picked up, filling not just one well but ten or even a hundred would be more than feasible.

Therein lay the issue: Mo Li couldn’t interact with these coins at all. They were nothing but projections on this alternate plane, and only viewable. Even the act of simply touching them was nothing more than a futile endeavor, as all the gold coins were intangible and monochrome.

However…

Just now, a golden glow emanated from beneath the small mountain of gold coins not far from Mo Li.

Mo Li rubbed his eyes, and after confirming that he wasn’t just seeing things, hurried over for a closer look.

Mo Li’s senses were flooded with a rush of sweetness as the metallic sensation filled his hands. Bringing them up to his nose, he took a deep sniff.

Gold, it has to be, this is real gold!

Mo Li was ecstatic and unashamed to say that never in his life from birth until now had he beheld such a vast amount of gold. The amount before him could easily consist of hundreds of coins!

Although only a small corner of the golden mountain had regained its color, this alone was enough to ignite excitement within Mo Li.

The presence of tangible gold implies that theoretically the entire mountain of gold can be extracted. As long as I figure out how to make it tangible then all the gold here could be mine!

Gold, gold, eheheh2… the feeling of sleeping in gold must be great… wait, what am I thinking about?

Mo Li frowned.

How could sleeping on hard and poky pile gold be comfortable, wouldn’t it be much better to take that money and purchase a large, luxurious villa instead?

For the time being, money is the thing Mo Li lacks the most. Obviously, gold coins are the more, the better; after all, no one would complain about having too much money.

So why did these tangible coins appear? Could it have something to do with that well and sword stand?

Mo Li took off his cloak and used it as a bag to carry the gold coins while giving off a feeling of loving money as much as life.

After stuffing as many coins as possible into his cloak Mo Li returned to the front of the well.

In front of the well, he paused, a thought appearing in his mind, did the ring’s prompt about filling the well with gold coins mean using this world’s gold coins to fill the well?

As he was having this thought, an extremely timely phrase of ancient text popped into his brain.

‘Gold coins can be exchanged for treasures within the Onyx3 Tower, and can be obtained by completing the Goddess’s trials.’

‘Collect six legendary divine weapons, and insert them into the sword stand to awaken bloodline.’

There was much information contained in these two sentences, especially the second sentence.

“Awaken the bloodline?” Mo Li was left stunned, his understanding faltering.

He was just some brat from the slums, where did this bloodline for him to awaken come from?? Could it be talking about the dragon clan’s bloodline.

If so it’d be quite strange, it is widely understood that bloodlines are inherent from birth. This principle applies universally, whether to non-human races or humans—there is no concept of a bloodline awakening at a later stage.

As such, the aforementioned bloodline has a high possibility of not being the dragon clan’s bloodline.

But if it ain’t the dragon clan’s bloodline what else could it be, what is it trying to say I have two bloodlines or something?

After much contemplation, Mo Li decided to stop dwelling on it.

Given the scarcity of clues available, no amount of pondering would lead him anywhere. Plus, there was the prerequisite of collecting six legendary weapons.

Are you sure there wasn’t a mistake somewhere along the line?

Mo Li’s first thought was originally, do six legendary weapons actually exist on this planet?

After all, even epic-tier weapons are considered national treasures by the various major nations, and legendary weapons are a tier higher.

Even if said weapons did exist, how would he obtain them? Were the formidable warriors of the various nations merely a jest? Mo Li was nothing more than a small-time assassin; when did he gain the ability to contend for legendary weapons?

Mo Li understood now, this ring was only trying to make him happy.

As such he decided to return his attention to how to obtain gold coins. Complete the Goddess’s trial?… What is this so-called trial? Gold coins can be used to exchange for the treasures of the Onyx Tower. Is the Onyx Tower it’s referring to this place?

Mo Li looked around and within this black tower4 were stored many books, while all types of fancy weapons, potions, and armor rested upon its wooden tables.

I see.

Because Mo Li’s attention had been focused on the gold coins, he failed to notice the other items within this black tower.

Among the items was a piercing spear, radiating a flash of dazzling brilliance, alongside a rapier displaying exquisite and distinctive craftsmanship. A simple cursory glance revealed the extraordinary value of these weapons, this was all before mentioning the multitudes of shining alchemy potions.

These are all redeemable items?

Mo Li approached the weapon rack, extending his hand towards a hammer adorned with a gem set in the center of its head.

‘【Imitation: Shattered Dawn 】- The replica of a legendary-grade divine weapon from a bygone era, quasi-epic grade. Exchange cost: 80,000.’

“80,000 gold coins?!” Mo Li exclaimed, confirming what he saw before tightly clutching the meager amount of coins he possessed.

But he did also notice that the weapon was quasi-epic grade.

Could a person realistically purchase a quasi-epic weapon with 80,000 gold coins? No, not only would it be impossible, but anyone claiming such a thing would be regarded as a fool.

If an epic weapon was something that money could buy, then the wealthiest nations would inherently be the most powerful ones.

So, as long as he had enough money could everything in this tower be Mo Li’s?

  1. Select your word of choice… cuz I don’t know exactly which english cuss word to use. I’m not even sure if 淦 is even really considered cussing.
  2. Dragon loli braincells activate lol.
  3. Direct translation of the word used would be something like Deep Black Tower, I felt that it sounded a little awkward so I used I Onyx instead.
  4. Ya I don’t know when we got back to the tower either tbh.
