Everything was going smoothly.
The plan to dethrone Fiiyanamia so I, Triadol Quintan, could rise as Central’s ruler was progressing well.

It all began when I filed a petition to develop a certain gold mine here in Central.
There are many untouched and undeveloped areas here, and exploiting them would clearly boost Central’s growth. Whether it be gold, iron, or copper, the region is abundant in these resources.

Moreover, our forests are vast, providing high-quality lumber that could yield significant profit.

Adding to that, we have a wealth of monster resources in the monster den, which is the only resource Central is permitted to fully exploit.
Despite all its potential, strict rules govern the exploitation of the other resources; breaking these rules results in immediate expulsion from Central.

That’s why I filed the petition, but it was rejected despite my comprehensive research, safety assessments, and profit forecasts. Central is not a place for the people, I was told.

That’s when I realized it; Fiiyanamia has no intention of making Central prosper.

In the first place, I’ve always disliked her rule over Central.
She does nothing and wouldn’t allow any change to happen.

Despite wielding significant authority, she uses it only to maintain the status quo.
In that case, I can make better use of that authority.

We formally follow Fiiyanamia due to her supposed power, but I’ve always questioned its legitimacy.
Since the day I was born, I’ve never heard of any major military feats attributed to her.
Even my now-deceased father had no knowledge of such accomplishments.

The historical records claim Fiiyanamia single-handedly defeated several thousands of men, but this seems more like a fabricated tale to preserve her rule.
While she might be strong, she’s likely only at A-rank level strength. And if by chance she’s at S-rank level, there are still ways around it. We don’t even need a S-rank hunter; we can simply gather several A-rank hunters and a large force of soldiers.
No matter how powerful one may be, it becomes meaningless when faced with sheer numbers.
In fact, a group of B-rank hunters working together could take down an A-rank monster.

I’ve nearly completed the groundwork for my rise to power after dethroning Fiiyanamia. All that remains is the support of one more prestigious family to make it a certainty.
Once I assume control, I can then simply focus on governing Central while enjoying the company of beautiful women. I’m going to work hard in governance, so having some pleasures shouldn’t be unwarranted.

As preparations continued, the heir of the Amyulute family reached out to me.
If I’m not mistaken, their eldest daughter is famous for her beauty, and the family itself has considerable power and influence—a perfect fit for my plan’s final piece.
For that reason, I promised them a suitable status and position in my rule in exchange for the eldest daughter’s hand in marriage.

Moreover, the Amyulute family belongs to the Fiiyanamia faction. Their switch to our side will further weaken her influence.
The countdown for Fiiyanamia’s fall had all but started.

That’s what I thought; everything was going well.
But then, it all crumbled.
The heir of the Amyulute family challenged Fiiyanamia’s adopted daughter and lost.

I’ve never seen the child in person, but they say that she’s a girl not even 15 years of age.
If it were a common man who lost, he’d only be scoffed at for losing to a young girl, but this was the prestigious Amyulute family. What’s more, the manner in which he lost made it worse.
As underestimated as she might have been, the adopted daughter utterly overwhelmed the Amyulute family.
Could Fiiyanamia be even more powerful than her?

Once a seed of doubt is planted, it’s difficult to remove.

「Damn it, doing such an unnecessary thing…」

He should have just behaved.
He likely grew impatient for glory and attacked without making any sort of preparations.
I don’t know the public opinion, but Fiiyanamia chose to adopt this child, so I’d assume she possesses some level of competence.

Moreover, rumors claim the girl’s combat prowess is A-rank level.
Someone that young being A-rank is prodigious, but she is a mere individual; with proper preparation, she could have been bested.

Had the Amyulute family done nothing, all that remained was for me to gather the families that would support my rule.
He should have just behaved.

Upon receiving news of the Amyulute’s defeat, I immediately gathered intel and discovered several families in the anti-Fiiyanamia faction are considering changing sides.
Expecting the worst, it would be prudent not to squander any war potential.

The preparations are still far from perfect, but we have no choice but to attack now.

「Is anyone there?」
「Right here, sir.」
「In a few days, we will attack Fiiyanamia. Send the message to the anti-Fiiyanamia faction members and the hired hunters.」
「Affirmative.」

After issuing the command to a steward who has served our family for generations, I summoned my wife to vent out my irritation.

The day of the assault arrived. With the sun yet to rise, the participants of this operation gathered at the city square.
Our main force consists of hired hunters and the private armies of those in the anti-Fiiyanamia faction.
Our numbers exceed a thousand; it’s highly unlikely we’ll lose.
It appears others share this sentiment, as there’s a look of relief on their faces, as if the Amyulute family’s failure never happened.

The hunters we’ve hired are formidable individuals, barred from promotion only due to their brutal tendencies.
Nonetheless, they are a useful bunch willing to do any work as long as they are rewarded.
This time, they immediately agreed to join the operation in exchange for women and money.

In terms of sheer strength, some even rival A-rank hunters.

Well, well, well. We’re finally introduced to our man Triadol and it looks like he just sealed the contract to his inevitable doom. Who knew one man’s incompetence would trigger such a mess, am I right Triadol? You’re even the POV character this time, lucky you!

A thing I like in this part is how it hammers home that “Central is not for the people”. In a different place, with a different ruler, Triadol’s ambition and competence might have brought him to great heights. Too bad he seems a bit too ambitious and confident, lol. Can’t wait for them to reach the Fii manor.

Now then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please feel free to comment. Stay healthy, stay safe, and have a nice day~!
