Michelle had been taken along by the God of Destruction Yuuri atop the Academy’s spire. It had a steep angle so it was hard to support the body, and the wind was quite fierce too.
One slip of the foot could lead to falling to the ground.
“U-Up, is this really safe?”
“It is, it iiiis. Besides, I will catch you if you fall, and even if you die, I’ll just revive you.”
“That doesn’t sound safe to me at all!”
“Now now. Leaving that aside, you want to find Nicole, right?”
“Oh, right, that!”
She was afraid of the current position and clung to the God of Destruction’s nape of the neck. For Michelle, her best friend’s safety was of higher priority than her own.
“Waaah!? Wait, wait, stop! There’s an order to these things.”
“Order… We have no time for—”
“Do you understand? In order to search for her calmly during a Goblin invasion like this, the first condition is to ensure your safety… I suppose that pretext would do.”
“That pretext?”
“Don’t worry about it. As such, lowering the Goblin numbers by shooting from here would be the most optimal move, if I were to offer my debrief.”
“D-dewhat…?”
“Uhh, I meant, let’s lower their numbers first and then take our time and search for her. That would in turn lead to Nicole’s safety.”
“I see, you’re right.”
“You’re such an obedient good girl, Michelle. Don’t you wanna become my daughter?”
“You look younger than me, Goddess.”
“Guhh!”
Between the God of Destruction that didn’t grow any older and Michelle who had been growing abnormally well, Michelle clearly appeared to be the older one.
That said, there was no time for idle chatter now. As the God of Destruction said, it was certainly wiser to secure the safety of the urban areas now.
In that case, she had to start shooting at them as quickly as she could. However, there was still too big of a distance to cover the entire invasion radius from this spire.
“It’s too far for me to aim from here, you know?”
“Leave that to me too. If I just activate Hawk Eye, and Target Sight, and also Magnetic Barrel—”
“H-Huh?”
Seeing her activate several spells at the same time, Michelle’s understanding was completely blown away. But then, a giant Goblin that was so far she couldn’t see before, suddenly appeared before her eyes.
It was projected so precisely as if it was only ten meters away, making her bend back.
One person seemed to be fighting against it, but the situation wasn’t looking good.
“Okay, listen. Due to the power of Target Sight, the effects of distance, wind power, gravity and Coriolis force can all be ignored.”
“Huh, corioli?”
“Don’t worry about the terminology. Magnetic Barrel will speed up the steel arrows, so you don’t have to worry about the range distance either. All hail Lorentz force!”
“L-Lawren?”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. In other words, just shoot at those abominable ugly b̲a̲s̲t̲a̲r̲d̲s̲ with all your strength. I will choose your targets, so try to shoot as many of them as you can.”
“But I only have ten arrows, you know?”
“I’ll just grab more with Apport, so no problem.”
“Really? So cool!”
“Right, I’m cool—whooah!?”
The God of Destruction puffed her chest and almost fell down. Not paying any mind to that, Michelle activated the support magic of her bangle.
Abundant power filled her body and she could now pull the Third Eye with no effort.
She faced the giant Goblin—The Goblin Lord that was projected before her eyes and took aim. Since it was engaged in a close fight with the unfamiliar man, she couldn’t shoot it immediately. But when the man got blown away, the golden opportunity to shoot had arrived.
She was worried about the man due to how violently he rolled on the ground, but putting down the Goblin was the priority now. Doing that would lead to saving that man, after all.
“—Fuh!”
She sharply inhaled, held it in, and loosed her arrow before exhaling.
She got the usual reaction. But the arrow accelerated even further after it passed the space before her eyes. This was most probably the effect of the Magnetic Barrel that the God of Destruction cast earlier.
The arrow didn’t draw a parabola like it usually would, ignoring gravity and every other factor, and pierced through the Goblin’s head. The spinning arrow didn’t stop at merely piercing its head, as it even twisted its entire head and ripped it off at the base of the neck, pulverizing it.
Then, a shockwave followed, blowing the man even further back. He quickly stood back up, so it was safe to say that he was fine. She let out a relieved sigh at that.
“Direct hit, nice. On to the next one then, six meters to the right.”
“Right… Ah, that one?”
Moving her sight to the right a bit, she saw a Goblin marked in red.
“Yes. That’s a Goblin Leader that is controlling the group around it. If you defeat that one, the rest of them around it will fall into disorder.”
“Okay.”
Then she easily drew the bow and released it. This one wasn’t as big as the previous Goblin, so it got reduced to pieces of meat in an instant.
“Next—”
She followed the God of Destruction’s instructions, changed her aim, and shot. She continued shooting without a break, and just as she thought there were no more arrows in the quiver, the God of Destruction replenished them.
In three minutes, she annihilated over a hundred Goblins, not missing a single arrow. After three minutes had passed, she suddenly started to lose strength and fell forward.
And just as the God of Destruction caught her, she lost her consciousness.
